Ellis Merton Coulter (1890-1981), author, educator at the University of Georgia (1919-1958) and head of the History Dept. (1941-1958), resided in Athens, Georgia.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of the writings of E. Merton Coulter from ca. 1919-1981. The collection contains drafts and typescript manuscripts of articles and books published by Coulter, as well as transcriptions of original materials and correspondence relating to the research and publication of his works. The collection also includes addresses/speeches made by Coulter to various organizations, woodcuts made for his publications, and research note cards.
