Historical Note
Alfred W. Jones, the owner of the charts, was son of Samuel Rufus Jones, 1858-1931, of Sea Island, Georgia.
Margaret Davis Cate, a woman of many careers, was credited for developing historical interest that led to designation of Ft. Frederica as a national monument. She was a teacher, postmaster, leader of the Glynn County Planning Board, leader of the city planning commission, leader of the Glynn County Board of Public Welfare, vice president of the Georgia Historical Society, president of the Glynn County League of Women Voters, president of the Brunswick's Women Club, and the author of several books and articles.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of genealogical charts of the Jones and allied families of Georgia. The charts were prepared by Margaret Davis Cate, an historian and genealogist of Sea Island, Georgia.
