Abstract: The collection consists of papers of Mary Ann Rutherford Lipscomb and the Lipscomb family from 1885-1951. Most of the collection consists of photographs of the Lipscomb family, the Lucy Cobb Institute (Athens, Ga.), and the Tallulah Falls Industrial School (Ga.). The collection also contains notes and writings of Mary Ann Lipscomb as well as correspondence including letters from George Foster Peabody (1922) to Harry Hodgson of Athens, Georgia discussing education for African Americans and the university school system in Georgia. |
