Historical Note
Alexander Robert Lawton (1818-1896) was a West Point graduate, studied law at Harvard, and from 1849-1854 was president of the Augusta and Savannah Railroad.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of one letter: dated Savannah, May 26, 1866, "Col. C. C. Jones," signed "A. R. Lawton," regarding the sale of South West Railroad Company stock and other business matters.
