John T. Collins was a customs house agent for the port of Brunswick, Georgia.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of four letterbooks (one is unbound) of John T. Collins from 1868-1884. Mainly pertaining to Collins' duties as customs agent for the port of Brunswick, Georgia, the volumes include correspondence detailing arrivals in port, vessels cleared, inspections, fees collected, and official appointments. Some correspondence relates to Collins' lumber business and his duties as an official of the Georgia chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic.
