Historical Note
John Elliott (1773-1827) was born in St. Johns Parish (Liberty County), Georgia, graduated from Yale in 1794 and began the practice of law in Sunbury in 1797. Active in local political affairs, he was elected to the United States Senate and served from 1819-1825.

The collection consists of one letter: dated August 13, 1800, to James Jackson, from John Elliot, concerning a case involving a Mr. Beal and the return of certain funds.
