Abstract: The collection, primarily financial in nature, deals with Katherine Lanier Clarke's land holdings, and the estate of her mother who was daughter of one of the mayors of Savannah. A good portion of the colletcion contains correspondence regarding financial and family matters in the early 20th century. There is also some genealogy and a few pictures in the collection. |
Katherine Lanier Clarke was for many years associated with the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Georgia. She was named State Specialist in Food Preservation. Mrs. Clarke left the bulk of her estate for the establishment of Lanier Gardens, a retirement community.
