John Marshall (1755-1832) was fourth chief justice of the United States and principal founder of the U.S. system of constitutional law.

The collection consists of four items: a quill pen used by Chief Justice John Marshall; a photocopy of a newspaper clipping regarding the presentation of the quill pen to the University of Georgia (circa 1963); and Mrs. H.B. Richie's cards of authority (circa 1963). Audio recording of the presentation ceremony has been transferred to the Media Library.
Though the collection is open for research, the audiovisual recordings do not have reference copies; however, reference copies are available upon request. Audiovisual research requests are dependent upon the format and condition of the recordings.
