The collection consists of two letters addressed to mercantile establishments in Cairo, Tennessee. The first from Harvey and Cage, merchants of New Orleans, to Messrs. Williston Hall and Company is dated 7 May 1821, and discusses river shipping and Tennessee's need for groceries and staple goods. The second letter, written 4 November 1821 from Baltimore, to Messrs. Stokely Venison and Company is from the firm of David Warfield and James Pogue. It discusses outstanding accounts and payment of the amount.
