Pleasant Stovall (son of Thomas Stovall and Elizabeth Cooper) was born June 8, 1793 in Henry, Virginia, and died November 29, 1863 in Athens, Clarke, County, Georgia. He married Louise Roper Lucas on January 6, 1818 in Hancock County, Georgia.
The collection consists of one letter from Pleasant Stovall in Athens, Georgia addressed to his son Lt. B. A. Stovall in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In the letter Pleasant replies to an earlier letter from the Lieutentant regarding investments including Georgia Railroad and Union Bank stock, and discusses the future value of Confederate money and disposition of Confederate property. He also writes about a family visit and the health of various family members, and makes general comments about the War.
