Collection Description

Historical Note

The University of Georgia has housed students on campus since 1806 with the opening of the Old College building. Residence halls at the University of Georgia are managed by University Housing, which began officially operating as a department in 1963.

Scope and Content

This collection features scrapbooks created by the students and staff of the University of Georgia's residence halls. Each scrapbook contains clippings and photographs that hightlight University Housing events and policy changes.

Of note is a scrapbook that documents the university's first women's honor dorm, which in 1967 allowed extended priviliges to exemplary students.

Organizations featured in this collection include the Continuing the Legacy of African-American Student Success (CLASS), Russell Community Council, and Residence Hall Association.
