Timothy Mathews Furlow was a student at the University of Georgia [Franklin College] from 1833-1836 but left in his junior year without graduating. During Furlow's life he was very influential in Georgia politics, serving in both the senate and house. He was also mayor of Americus for a number of terms.
The collection consists of Timothy Mathews Furlow's diary that he created during his time at the University of Georgia [Franklin College]from 1833-1836. The diary includes a list of students at the College from January 1833 through August 1836. Also included in the collection is a scan of a photograph of Furlow, some biographical information and two letters from Dean William Tate to one of Furlow's descendents, Timothy Furlow Conner.
