Ted Harris was born in Georgia in 1934. He attended the Univeristy of Georgia, obtaining his BA, MA, and PhD. Harris wrote a dissertation on politician and women's rights activist Jeannette Rankin, entitled Jeannette Rankin: Suffragist, 1st Woman Elected to Congress, and Pacifist (Dissertations in American Biography). Harris went on to teach at UGA for 30 years, before eventually retiring as Dean of Waycross College. He died in 2004 in Waycross, Georgia.
This collection contains draft chapters of Ted Harris's dissertation Jeannette Rankin: Suffragist, 1st Woman Elected to Congress, and Pacifist (Dissertations in American Biography). It also contains documents and handwritten notes compiled by Harris related to Jeannette Rankin.
