Troutman served as John F. Kennedy's Southern campaign manager during the 1960 Presidential election, after which he was appointed chairman of the Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity. The colleciton also includes family records, primarily correspondence between Troutman and his sister, Eleanor.
This collection is arranged in four series. The bulk of the collection can be found in series 1, which contains records pertaining to the J. Scott Callan Trust land in Lee County, FL, of which Troutman was a trustee. Series 2 contains a few folders documenting Troutman's political career with the Kennedy administration. Series 3 is comprised of family letters, particularly letters from Troutman to his sister, Eleanor. Series 4 contains records related to the Troutman estate. In order to protect privacy concerns, series 4 has been restrited until 2045.
