"The Carter Presidency: Lessons for the 21st Century" conference was held at the University of Georgia from January 19 to 21, 2007, commemorating the 30th anniversary of President Carter's inauguration. Participants of the conference, which was cohosted by the University of Georgia's School of Public and International Affairs and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, included President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter, Vice President and Mrs. Walter F. Mondale, members of the Carter administration and policymakers from subsequent administrations, scholars, journalists, and students. The goal of the conference was to examine the Carter presidency for insights that could be used by contemporary policymakers facing similar issues.
