Historical Note

Benjamin Lewis Jones (1941-) served for four years in the United States House of Representatives from 1989 January 3, to 1993 January 3, representing Georgia's Fourth Congressional District. He served as a Democratic whip, as well as a member of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs and the Committee on Public Works and Transportation. In addition to his time as a congressman, Jones is best known for his role as Cooter Davenport in the televesion series The Dukes of Hazzard.
