Rattlesnake Confederate Steamship stock certificate
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteFormally the C.S.S. Nashville, the Confederate ship was converted into a privateer and renamed the Rattlesnake. At the battle for Fort McAllister in Richmond Hill, GA, the ship was attacked by the U.S.S. Montauk in Feburary 1863, during which the Rattlesnake ran aground and eventually caught fire and sunk.
