Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteStuart C. Woods (1938-2022) was from Manchester, Georgia and was a graduate of the University of Georgia in Journalism in 1959. He was an advertising writer, journalist, and novelist. He enjoyed sailing and competed in the several races including the 1976 OSTAR solo trans Atlantic race. His first novel "Chiefs" was adapted into a television miniseries that won multiple Emmy awards, and the book won the the Edgar Award in the "Best First Novel" category from the Mystery Writers of America. Scope and ContentThis collection includes biographical information and artifacts, yachting materials, and typescripts including several drafts of "Chiefs."
