Mary Holdsworth diary
Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of a two-sided diary of Mary Holdsworth, from July 1833 to 1845. Some entries are also written by Mary's sister, Jane Holdsworth. The diary entries cover day-to-day activities, social events, accounts of travel, and several handwritten recipes. Both kitchen and medicinal, the recipes range from Plumb Pudding and Raspberry Vinegar, to Furniture Oil and Medicine for Cough. Some recipes appear to be authored by other family members and friends.
