Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteAs a University of Georgia student, Donald L. Nelson joined Chuck Searcy, Chatham Murray, and Pete McCommons in founding the Athens Observer in 1974 and worked there for 18 years before becoming an associate editor of the Athens Banner-Herald. In 2002, the Athens Observer merged with a paper in Oconee County and became the Athens-Oconee Observer. Scope and ContentThis collection contains the negatives of photographs from the Athens Observer compiled by Donald L. Nelson, as well as an index of the subjects of the photographs.
