Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteReverend E. C. Atkins (1855-1949) was a Methodist clergyman who worked with prisoners at the State Prison Farm in Milledgeville, Georgia. He was married to Florence Ewell (1863-1940), a well-known, national speaker for the Women's Christian Temperance Union, on the subjects of Temperance and Woman's Suffrage. Their son, D. Ewell Atkins (1887-1956) was married to Helen Wilkinson (1886-1968). Scope and ContentThis collection contains correspondence and writings, photographs and newspaper clippings chiefly by and about Florence Ewell Atkins, her speeches, and her work with the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.
