Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteMartha P. Connell (1936-2014) was a writer, curator, and owner of the Great American Gallery and Connell Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Opened in 1985, the Great American Gallery provided a platform for the growing American crafts movement, and featured glass, fiber, wood, clay, and jewelry artists. The Connell's moved the gallery and renamed it the Connell Gallery in 1990, continuing to operate it until 2003. Ms. Connell also served on the Board of Governors for the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, as well as being on the boards of several other craft associations. Scope and ContentThis collection is arranged in three series, artist files, exhibit files, and general subject files and includes artist PR and information, collected articles, exhibit mailings, and photographs or art and gallery events.
