Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteR. Wayne Reynolds (1924-1995) was a native of Rising Sun, Maryland. Reynolds was a graduate of West Knottingham Academy and the University of Maryland. He served six years in the US Army in WWII and in Korea as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Company A 73rd Heavy Tank Battalion. "Memorial Obituary." Atlanta Journal 16 June 1995. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of correspondence from Lieutenant R. W. Reynolds to his wife, Mary Lou Reynolds, while serving in the Korean War (January 1951, August 1951-June 1952). Letters mention Reynolds' activities on the frontline, military life, and time spent in Japan. Excerpt from a letter dated October 10, 1951: "I picked up a poor little soul yesterday that had his eye shot out … I got him back to the aid station on my tank...don't know how many Chinese we did kill."
