Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThe Georgia Wildlife Federation Collection encompasses the work of this non-profit organization from its earliest initiatives in the 1930s through the later half of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first. While the association began as a sportsman's coalition it grew into vigorous environmental organization which sought to protect the state's diverse natural and wildlife resources. It undertook an active role in educating children and citizens about the need to conserve the state's outdoor legacy. Scope and ContentThis collection includes administrative files, legislation and advocacy, educational materials, and photographs. There are numerous files documenting the creation of the Alcovy River Greenway, Mill Creek Nature Center, and the Okefenokee Education and Research Center.
