Robert Saveland papers
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteRobert Nelson Saveland was born in 1921 in East Cleveland, OH. He served in the US Naval Reserve during WWII participating in the Normandy landing at Omaha Beach. After the war, Dr. Saveland became a geography teacher in Kirkwood, Missouri. He joined the faculty of University of Georgia College of Education in 1968 teaching social science education until his retirement in 1985. Scope and ContentThis collection consists of personal papers and clippings from WWII including a handmade box containing books on marine navigation. There are several WWII awards and medals. Some papers and published articles are included from Dr. Saveland's involvement in local geography and development.
