Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteGrady Ridgeway, Jr. (1923-2015) was born in Buford, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Afterward he worked as the Airport Manager of the Atlanta Municipal Airport under Mayor Hartsfield overseeing the airport's expansion and modernization. Later Ridgeway was chosen as the Commissioner of Aviation for the city of Atlanta. Scope and ContentThis collection consists primarily of photographs taken over several years of the Atlanta airport. Some of Grady Ridgeway's professional papers and personal photographs are included as well as maps of the planning of the airport.
