Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteCalvin S. Brown (1866-1945), a scholar of archaeology and music, was born in Tennessee and received degrees from Vanderbilt and the University of Colorado. He taught at the University of Mississippi. Calvin S. Brown (1909-1989) was born in Oxford, Mississippi and received degrees from the University of Mississippi (B.A.), University of Cincinnatti (M.A.), and University of Wisconson (Ph.D.). He taught at the University of Georgia from 1938 to 1973. Scope and ContentThis collection consists of correspondence concerning two books authored by Calvin S. Brown (1866-1945) and his son of the same name. The correspondence regarding Brown the elder involves his book Latin Songs. The second group of letters relates to Brown the younger's book Music and Literature, published in 1949. Among the letters are two written by John Gould Feltcher.
