Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteArthur W. McDonald, former chair of the Department of Fine Arts at the College of Charleston, is the author of several works about the Yorkshire theatre including The Yorkshire stage, 1766-1803 : a calendar of plays, together with cast lists for Tate Wilkinson's circuit of theatres (Doncaster, Hull, Leeds, Pontefract, Wakefield, and York) and the Yorkshire Company's engagements in Beverley, Halifax, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Edinburgh. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of 18th and 19th Century British theatre playbills and engravings that document the Yorkshire theatre circuit and non-Yorkshire theatre. Of note are playbills and engravings related to the Kemble family, Elizabeth Inchbald, and productions at Drury Lane and Covent Gardens. Administrative InformationPreferred CitationArthur W.
