Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteDavid Donovan is the pseudonym of Terry T. Turner, formerly a professor of urology and cell biology, now Professor Emeritus at the University of Virginia. He grew up in Colquitt County, Georgia, the son of Otis and Donita Turner. He received his Ph.D from the University of Georgia in 1974. After serving as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he wrote a book about his experiences called Once A Warrior King. He was with the Mobile Advisory Team in Tram Chim village in the Mekong Delta. Turner's second book, Murphy Station, deals with his growing up in small town in the South during the 1950s and 1960s. Scope and ContentThis collection consists of correspondence, manuscript drafts, printed material, photographs, and Vietnam War memorabilia. The correspondence includes fan mail, Vietnam war letters, and correspondence with publishers.
