Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteWilliam E. Wilson (d. 1905) was a professional documentary photographer in the late 1800s. Born in London, England, his family moved to South Carolina when he was a child. He lived in Savannah, Georgia and Mobile, Alabama in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of reproductions of photographs that originated from William Ernest Wilson's glass plate negatives in the 1880s. Photographs are not originals, but were reproduced for an exhibit using methods similar to the one Wilson used.
