Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteJulia Elizabeth Eason (b. 1915) was born in Atlanta, Georgia and married Leonard Elbert Fuller (1922-1944) on April 12, 1944. Fuller was killed in France on July 15, 1944 while serving in 1st Army, 4th Division, 12th Infantry, 2nd Battalion, F Company. Julia next married Ernest Alfred Sauvageau (b. 1915) of Lowell, Massachusetts on June 13, 1945. He served in the Medical Detachment, Section 1 as a dental lab technician and was stationed in Camp Blanding, Florida; Ft. Lewis, Washington; Camp Anza, California, and briefly in Hawaii. Ernest was discharged from the Army on February 12, 1946 and he and Elizabeth lived in Decatur, Georgia. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of a scrapbook and correspondence. The scrapbook contains material relating to Leonard Fuller, including wedding announcement, photographs, notifications of Fuller's death, sympathy cards, Purple Heart certificate, and letters which were written to Fuller and returned marked "deceased." The correspondence are between Elizabeth and Ernest Sauvageau before and after their marriage and span the beginning of World War II until Ernest's discharge in 1946.
