Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThomas Augustus Woodham was in Company E, 31st Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of letters written by Thomas Woodham to his wife and family from Petersburg, Stanton, Gordonville, Lynchburg, and Winchester, Virginia. Correspondences describe hardships the soldiers endure, sickness, battles, and Woodham's strong desire to come home. The collection also includes financial papers mainly concerning Nancy Caroline Woodham and the Lunsford family. Papers include promissory notes, receipts, and indentures from 1840-1881.
