Georgia courthouse photographs
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteA great resource for historical information on each of the Georgia courthouses can be found at "Georgia County Courthouses" (http://georgiainfo.galileo.usg.edu/courthouses/contents.htm). With Atkinson as an example, the county began on January 1st, 1919, and the three-story brick courthouse was completed a year later, in 1920. Although it was remodeled somewhat in the 1980s, the courthouse is still uesd today. Almost every county's courthouse can be investigated using "Georgia County Courthouses." This collection's images show each Georgian courthouse as they currently stand. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of photographs, both black-and-white and color, of the many county courthouses in Georgia. There are also photographs of two city halls and two jails in Georgia. At the end of the collection is a publication entitled County offices and general information 1978-1979, which includes many of these photographs.
