Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThe Middle Georgia Horticultural Society was organized July 20, 1887 at Vineyard Station near Griffin, Georgia (Spalding County). Scope and ContentThe collection consists of a minute book containing the constitution, by-laws, members and officers list, and minutes of the Middle Georgia Horticultural Society from 1887-1890. Minutes are handwritten and in newspaper clippings, and discuss growing of fruit, flowers, and vegetables. Minutes of February 12, 1889 discuss the society's attempts to get the Georgia Experiment Station to locate in Spalding County.
