Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteBarry McDonald Staples (d. 2005), a University of Georgia graduate, was an attorney, teacher, and environmentalist from Carrollton, Georgia. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of photographs and slides taken by and of Barry Staples from 1972-1979. Images depict parks, natural areas, rivers and streams, and wildlife management areas Staples visited, but also portray Staples during lectures, social events, in the office, library, and field. A disbound scrapbook contains photographs from Big Hornsby Lake, Lewis Island; Sea Horse Key; Murder Creek Special Management Area; Horsepasture River; Okefenokee Swamp; Alcovy River Swamp; Congaree Swamp; Spring Creek; Shell Bluff, Savannah River; Kolomoki Creek, Clay County, Georgia; Cooper Creek; and Beech Creek. The collection also includes some writings, clippings, and a Georgia Bar Association convention pin (1942) belonging to Earl Staples Carrollton.
