Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteBrown Brothers Sand Company (located in Howard, Georgia), was started in 1903 as the result of a prank by brothers John, O.C., Rod, Lewis, and William Brown. In later years the company was operated by Carl Brown and his son Steve. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of company ledgers containing accounts and lists of cars of sand shipped, weekly time books listing employee names and pay, business correspondence, printed material, and promotional items. There are photographs and slides of the sand pit, its operation, machinery, and employees, along with some family photographs.
