Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteRuby Lorraine Radford taught in the Augusta public school system from 1912-1920, then completed graduate corsework at Columbia University in 1921. She authored over 50 works, many of which featured female protagonists and Georgia history. She was named Author of the Year by the Dixie Council of Authors and Journalists in 1969. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of five manuscripts by Ruby Lorraine Radford dating 1960-1969. Included are: Secret of Ocean house; James Edward Oglethorpe; Juliette Gordon Low: Founder of the Girl Scouts; Sequoya's Gift to the Cherokees; and Prelude to Fame. Secret of Ocean House is accompanied by correspondence from Radford and publishers during the process of revision and rewriting; and Prelude to Fame is accompanied by an invitation to an autograph session by the author.
