Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThe Grand Lodge of Georgia of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows was established in 1843. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of the records of the Grand Lodge of Georgia of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows from 1902-1917 (with gaps). The bulk of the collection is comprised of the correspondence of Grand Masters John W. Bennett (1904-1905), T.H. Robertson (1905-1906), B.B. McCowen (1906-1907), and James Howard Dozier (1907-1908). The correspondence pertains to the daily business of the Lodge including financial matters, elections, the establishment and dissolution of local lodges, and its relationship with the Rebekah Assembly (the women's branches). The collection also contains some printed material (1902-1917, with gaps) including proceedings, constitutions, and bylaws of various Georgia lodges.
