Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteStephen E. Draper, an attorney in the Atlanta area, leads the Draper Group, which seeks to advise on effective management and protection of water resources in Georgia. As a water policy advisor to the governor, Draper was responsible for analysis of statewide water resources and uses in Georgia, the development and implementation of programs for public dialogue on water issues, and the development of proposed policies and regulations. He has served the state in a number of capacities as a representative to the Joint Comprehensive Water Plan Study Committee, member of the Clean Water Initiative, and chair of the Georgia Water Advisory Council. At the University of Georgia, Draper founded the Stephen E. Draper Center and Archives for the Study of Water Law and Policy, a comprehensive collection of books, manuscripts, and other materials that document water resource management history, law, and policy. Scope and ContentThis collection consists of the papers of Stephen E. Draper concerning water resource management in the state of Georgia, as well as promotional material for dedication and exhibition of the Stephen E. Draper Center and Archives for the Study of Water Law and Policy.
