Store and hotel ledger book
Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of an ledger book that is also used as a scrapbook. The first several pages contain newspaper clippings and advertisements. The remaining pages account for items purchased and names of purchasers at a store in Elberton, Georgia, in 1837; names and hometowns of people who stayed at the Oxford Hotel from 1849-1851, and provisions brought for the hotel from 1851-1854; and operational expenditures of the Hunter House in Covington, Georgia, from 1853-1856. The ledger possibly belonged to John A. H. Harper.
