Bunnie Cox family scrapbooks
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteBelle (Bunnie) Vernon Porter (1911-1968) married Julian Hoyt Cox in 1932 and was society editor of the Athens Banner Herald from 1942-1968. She was a student at North Avenue Presbyterian School in Atlanta, Demorest (GA) High School, and the University of Georgia. Her sister Ann Beveille Porter was a student at Demorest High School and Piedmont College. Roswell King (1765-1844) was a businessman who founded the ciity of Roswell in northern Fulton County, Georgia. For more information see the article Roswell King in the New Georgia Encyclopedia. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of a family record album, and two family scrapbooks. The family record album contains genealogy of the family names Porter, King, Strobhar and Habersham. The album held numerous loose papers consisting of clipping, photographs, correspondence, printed material and genealogy information. Ancestors of Bunnie Cox include Roswell King (founder of Roswell, Georgia) and Revolutionary War Major John Habersham. The two family scrapbooks are an engagement and wedding scrapbook of Flora Middlebrooks Cox and a child's picture scrapbook made by LaNette Hillsman Middlebrooks.
