Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteMr. Booth's Female Seminary was located in Ballston Spa, New York. Lebbeus Booth bought the property in 1823 and opened Ballston Spa Female Seminary the following year. It closed in 1835. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of a commonplace book filled with handwritten pages of poetry, recipes, some accounts, and lists of students at Mr. Booth's Seminary. Different styles of handwriting indicate more than one writer. According to the first page, the book possibly belonged to E. Grant and was titled "Book of extracts."
