Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteJohn W. Wells was an actor, playwright, and songwriter of Waycross, Georgia. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of correspondence; business items; typed and handwritten manuscripts, both published and unpublished, of Well's plays; and photographs. The correspondence contains letters from Well's publishers and editors regarding rewrites, publication, copyrights, staging, and production of Well's plays. The correspondence also includes letters to Well's wife Sarah from friends and Wells discussing social activities and Well's writing. Business materials include movie rights for Well's play "Rafter Romance" and New Jersey and New York City theater records for a production by Wells.
