Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of papers compiled, copied, and composed by Myra Lake Howell, undated, but possibly in the 1960s. Papers concern Native American history, and include Native American legends. Titles of works compiled or copied by Howell include: American Indian Legends by students of the United States Indian School, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, prepared in the History Department under the direction of Mrs. Mary Yarnall Henderson; Indian Legends by students, Carlisle Indian School, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, from the collection of school newspapers at the Herman Bosler Public Library, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Titles composed by Howell include: The Comanche Centaurs and Quanah Parker (The Prairie Centaurs, Part I); The Jacksboro Trials of Satanta and Big Tree (The Prairie Centaurs, Part II); Kicking Bird Prince of the Kiowas. The collection also includes a photocopy of pages from Texana, volume IV, concerning Quanah Parker.
