Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteSelene Armstrong Harmon (1883-1932) was born in Wilkes County, Georgia. She became a feature writer for the Washington Times and later a freelance writer for magazines and newspapers. She married another journalist, Dudley Harmon. They had four daughters, and the eldest girl was named after Selene's husband. Selene died at age 49. Her eldest daughter, Dudley Harmon, would go on to be a journalist for the Washington Post. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of several copies of Southern Woman's Magazine containing book reviews by Selene Ayer Armstrong; miscellaneous clippings from the Washington D.C. Star, the Women Worth While column; copies of telegrams regarding her engagement and marriage; a brief biography of Dudley Harmon, the man she married; a partial journal of the years in Connecticut; and several pieces of correspondence.
