Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThomas Walter Reed (1870-1950) was the registrar of the University of Georgia from 1909-1945. Reed received a Master of Arts degree in 1888 and a Bachelor of Law degree in 1889. In 1909, he was elected secretary of the Board of Trustees, and named registrar and treasurer of the university. He remained registrar until his retirement in 1945 when he was designated registrar emeritus. Following his death, the men's dormitory was named in his honor in July 1951. Scope and ContentThis collection consists of notes for the unpublished History of the University of Georgia. It includes football records, business and personal letters, essays, speeches, and lectures, insurance policies and bank statements. Included in this collection are Reed's school papers during his final years at the Boy's High School and his early years at the University of Georgia.
