Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteJoy Bright Hancock (1898- ), enlisted in the women's naval reserve in 1918 as a yeoman, rose to the rank of Capt., Director of Women's Reserve by 1946. One of eight women sworn into the regular Navy under the Women's Armed Service Integration Act of 1948, retired in 1953. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of typed and handwritten manuscripts of twelve short stories or novellas. Also includes some correspondence to and from editors regarding the publishing of his works.
