Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteFranklin M. Fleming (d. 1863), Confederate Lt. with Company H of the 46th Georgia Infantry Regiment, married Lizzie Fleming, resided in Marion County (Ga.). Scope and ContentThe collection consists of correspondence from Franklin M. Fleming to his wife, Lizzie in Marion County, Georgia, while he served with the 46th Georgia Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The letters are almost entirely from camps located near Charleston, South Carolina with some from Camp Cobb at Wilmington, North Carolina. After Fleming's death, his brother D.G. Fleming with Company G of the 8th Georgia Infantry Regiment, wrote Lizzie from near Richmond, Virginia from March-October 1864. Administrative InformationPreferred CitationFranklin M.
