Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThe purpose of the Athens Newcomers Club is to welcome newcomers, promote friendship, and acquaint members with the city of Athens, Georgia and its cultural and civic opportunities. Women are eligible for membership who lived in Athens three years or less, and membership is limited to a two-year period. Scope and ContentThis collection contains Athens Newcomers Club minutes 1957-1998, scrapbooks of club activities 1958-2006, recipes for club cookbooks, club rules, and a booklet by the club titled An Insider's Guide to Athens, as well as administrative files and newsletters up to 2018.
