Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteRose Thompson (1930- ), teacher and author, born in Greene County, Georgia. Worked in middle Georgia for the Farm Security Administration as a home supervisor in the 1930s and 1940s. Collected stories told to her by African American families she visited and published some in "Foxfire" magazine. In 1982, a collection of her works were published in Hush child! Can't You Hear the Music? Scope and ContentThe collection consists of correspondence, typescripts of stories of folklore used in Foxfire magazine; typescript of Hush Child! Can't You Hear the Music?, a book containing stories she collected, and photographs, mostly of African Americans in middle Georgia.
